Monday Movie Meme - Whose Line Is It Anyway?

This week's Monday Movie Meme is all about those quirky little lines in the movies. We're not necessarily talking about the famous ones, like "Go ahead, make my day" or "Scarlett my dear, I don't give a damn". It's the ones that are like a second language among you and your friends or between you and your spouse. The ones, when you use them in public, sometimes draw curious glances (but you do it anyway 'cause it cracks you up). Here are some of ours:

* "It puts the lotion on its skin"

* "The horror..."

* "The shitter was full"

* "You get f***ed in the drive-through!"
* "Be careful..." (this one is all about the facial expression and accent)

We use the drive-through one all the time!!

We also use a lot of lines from Little Big Man (Example: But the subtle truth is you really *don't* want me to go down there! ) and My Cousin Vinny (Example: Oh yeah, you blend).

Beth - that drive-through saying is one of the key truths in life. Nothing good comes from them! The Little Big Man always seems to get the good lines, probably because he delivers them with such verve and eloquence!

#3 is from X-Mas Vacation right? And #4 is from Lethal Weapon 2 (or whichever was the one with Joe Pesci as Leo Getz). I say that line every time I go through a drive thru. I haven't a clue on the others. Is one of them from Little Big Man or was Beth just talking about that separately? I loved that movie - haven't seen it in about 20 years though.

You are right with the two you guessed! "The Horror" is probably the most expensive line in movie history, uttered by Marlon Brando in Apocolypse Now for like 2 gazillion dollars. "Be careful" is just so lame, spoken by Anne Archer in Patriot Games in her breathy, faux accent. We laugh every time we see it! "It puts the lotion on its skin" was what the serial murder guy says in Silence of the Lambs to his victim that he starving in order to skin her and make clothes!

I really need to take part in this meme too! It would go along with the Monday Movies meme.

Did you ever see My Big Fat Greek Wedding? The father uses Windex for just about everything. Although we don't often use a direct quote from the movie, we often will say something like, "Just use Windex" when someone asks how to take care of a problem.

My sisters and I often say "I have no response to that." in the same breathy airhead voice that Meg Ryan uses in "Joe vs. the Volcano" - a movie which was panned, but we happen to love.

We also love to do the "yes, yes, yes" "no, no, no" scene from "Singing in the Rain" complete with opposite head motions and slowed down voices.

Wendy - that is a hilarious movie, and I love the Windex solution...I feel the same way about bleach! You should definitely play along with us on this meme. It is a great way to get your brain jump-started on a Monday morning!

Carrie - I loved Joe Versus the Volcano!

Sorry to say I didn't recognise any of them (which is a shame, since they sound like great lines to use). I really should pay more attention at the movies.
